Hi folks -- I'm shopping for my next camera (currently using the DVX100B) and I guess I'll follow the swell toward HD acquisition. Your comments please on whether I should go Sony, Panasonic or JVC? Canon product is out for me because the design of the box isn't very friendly. All the best in 2007! Lou

it seems like there are so many models coming out with so much frequency its hard to just pick one, dont you think? Overall we have heard the best about Sony, but as far as I can tell most HD independent filmmakers are choosing JVC.

I did purchase the Panasonic HVX200 for a number of reasons. The most important however is this: It is the only true HD camera of the prosumer variety -- not the HDV format. For me this is an important consideration because Discovery, A&E, etc. limit the amount of HDV footage (Sony, JVC) that can be used in an HD program. (12% or thereabouts) Because the HVX200 is native HD it can be used to acquire an entire program. FilmLou

I shoot with the JVC and it's awesome! the colors are VERY rich. I upgraded from the DVX too, and if you like the DVX compared to the Cannon, I think you will like the JVC.

hi folks! until now i would prefer the hvx200 for the same reasons mentioned above (plus it delivers real frame rate changes).
thereīs also a new sony model announced, should be available here (in europe) quite early in 2008. itīll work with memory cards like the hvx200.
i would not invest into a hdv-tape based camera anymore.
